Project Overview
DUG Construction was commissioned in Bradford to remove a defective section of road, install a new kerb line, widen the roadway, and prepare the area for a new entry/exit barrier system. The final stage involved fully resurfacing the road to provide a durable, safe, and improved traffic flow.
Existing Road Condition
The old carriageway showed signs of deterioration, cracking, edge failure, and deformation. The layout was too narrow to accommodate the proposed controlled barrier system, requiring full reconstruction and widening.

Removal of Defective Road Surface
The existing asphalt and sub‑base materials were excavated and removed to expose a stable formation level. Works were carried out under traffic management to ensure safety.

Installation of New Kerb Line
A new straightened kerb line was installed to redefine the road edge and create the widened layout required for barrier installation. Precision alignment ensured correct levels and drainage fall.

Road Widening & Sub‑base Reconstruction
The newly defined road width was built up using compacted Type 1 sub‑base. This provided a strong foundation for the forthcoming surface course and ensured the new barrier island could be installed securely.

Installation of Barrier Island
A reinforced concrete island was constructed to house the new entry/exit barrier system. This structure was formed to exact specification, ensuring long‑term stability and proper operational spacing for vehicles.

Full Road Resurfacing
Once the kerb line, widening, and barrier island were complete, the entire road was resurfaced with fresh tarmac. The new surface greatly improved durability, skid resistance, and visual appearance.

Completion
The final result is a widened, strengthened, and professionally finished roadway suitable for a modern controlled access system, improving both safety and traffic management for the site.
